Today we finally escaped that infernal “Peter Pan Hostel.” Never ever land.. as in never ever go there and avoid the sex crazed lost boys. Then we bussed it to the terminal hub and booked an afternoon train to Naples. Before jumping on that we checked out the coliseum. It was strange to think of the thousands and thousands of people and animals that had been slaughtered here for entertainment, and then to look around at the continuing thousands per day who come to see it for exactly that reason, without even seeing the slaughter itself. We heard ahead of time that the line to get inside the place would takes hours so we skipped that and looked through the gated openings instead. Once we soaked in the imagined bloodshed and circled the highly epic coliseum, we walked up the hill quite a bit and checked out the museum of culture and history (actually we just looked at all the statues on top, there were horsies!) Then we headed off to the Naples bus, saw lots and lots of Italy on the way and after checking 5 places or so found a decent, clean hotel with wifi and a fish tank! The outside of all these buildings look abandoned but the inside of this hotel is great and air conditioned! We even have enough beds for each of us AND Steve and Adina finally get to sleep in a bed together! (Adina is a bed hog so they can’t share a twin anymore). Bread and mozzarella cheese for dinner (the rest ate ham and salami too) and some beer. Day finished with a mosquito free, air conditioned room and restful sleep.
